THE JOURNEY

23.11.21

Always expect the unexpected! I always feel like I’m letting myself down a bit by visiting the same location time and time again but every now and then, something really magical happens. The sun position was perfectly positioned behind the church roof, cloud cover was spot on and the colours were just phenomenal.

For me, it’s all about the journey. Without being here, I would have missed this and the experience and feeling you get can’t be explained in words.

CREATIVES

20.11.21

Flat out day for the girls with an early birthday party for Alana who turns 11 on Wednesday. She’s got a great little group of friends and they all get on so well together. Watching her have fun is all I need in life.

CORMORANT

19.11.21

A juvenile Cormorant sat, seemingly unfazed, on the edge of the pond in Saumarez Park. I was able to get extremely close to this one for some reason, even the screaming kids on bikes didn’t bother it. Great for me as it meant I could creep up and get as close as I could. I love the blue eyes in these birds.

FERMAIN VALLEY

15.11.21

Nestled deep in the valley, there’s one tree which stands out from the rest every year. Although the light wasn’t great, the tree’s showing a full spectrum of autumnal colours. The brown dead leaves at the top, yellows in the midde and lower leaves still holding onto their summer greens.

MARBLE RUN

13.11.21

I almost pulled the covers over my head this morning but me being me, got up anyway to check the sky and I could see it starting to pick up some colour 45 minutes earlier. A 5 mile drive later and a mad run down to Marble Bay I was greeted with this stunning sky. Sometimes a little extra effort goes a long way.

This is a good example of how the higher level clouds pick up the colour in the atmosphere.

LES NIAUX

11.11.21

Les Niaux mill, half way up Talbot Valley with a recently renovated hardwood wheel which is fully operational and provide power to a heat pump in the house. Apparently there’s been a mill on this site since the mid 1300’s. Originally used to grind corn, it was later converted to shred rags for the padding in uniforms.
