CORMORANT

19.11.21

A juvenile Cormorant sat, seemingly unfazed, on the edge of the pond in Saumarez Park. I was able to get extremely close to this one for some reason, even the screaming kids on bikes didn’t bother it. Great for me as it meant I could creep up and get as close as I could. I love the blue eyes in these birds.

FROG

02.11.20

Another frog re-homed from ‘death by cat claws’. Went outside last night to see the cat batting something against the wall in the dark which turned out to be this frog. Found it a suitable home and we went our separate ways.

SLIMY

10.10.20

A surprise find in the garden as I was clearing leaves before mowing. I’ve got no idea how it got into the garden as there’s no gap anywhere that’s big enough for a frog. The only explanation I can think of is a bird dropping it in. I let him find a new hiding place for now but I’ll release him near a pond tomorrow.

GREY HERON

27.02.19

This heron really doesn’t care about people, he’s more interested in catching every last fish in the pond. It’s easy to find and photograph, the personal challenge is trying to capture him in the best possible light. This was about 09:30 and apart from a few blown out feathers, I think I’m finally happy and can let this one go.
