COMMON BLUE

28.09.21

Probably the worst conditions for macro, but in between gusts of wind and this wet stuff falling from the sky, I managed to grab a few shots of a Common Blue. What I didn’t realise is I’d accidentally destroyed a spiders web which he wasn’t too pleased about. Sorry Mr Spider.

AUTUMN

22.09.21

The transition from summer to winter is finally here. We’ve been pretty lucky, nearly the whole of September with next to no rain, no storms, lots of sunshine and calm misty mornings. All good things must come to an end though!

FORT HOUMET

20.09.21

I always struggle with ‘clear sky days’. Finding the right balance and subject is the biggest challenge. The good thing is, the days are drawing in and the autumn light is becoming more noticeable after work. I’ve also been experimenting with the new(ish) bundled LR presets which open your eyes to some more experimental, cinematic editing. They’re a good base to work from to create your own preset library.

MOTO X

19.09.21

Nice 4 miles hike/cycle around Pleinmont with a stop at the MotoX track. Finley didn't want to leave bless him but as you can see, he’s outgrown his bike and those little wheels don’t give much control in the dirt. Let’s hope Santa doesn’t have a shortage of Aluminium this Christmas!

DRAGONFLY III

17.09.21

There comes a point when you get to know a spot extremely well. To the point where you can guarantee to find dragonflies and the precise location they tend to rest.

Backlit from the sun with the background positioned into a shady area which worked well but the down side is the blown out areas on the eyes. Not much I could do about that though.

FOR PAPPY

14.09.21

Sadly, today we said our goodbyes to my grandad ‘pappy’. I have many fond memories that have been circling around in my head but one we shared is the exploration of Guernsey coastline. He often spoke of diving the shipwrecks off the coast around here, even bringing us plates and cutlery from the wrecks to use at home!

Everyone deals with deaths in different ways and I wanted to express it in a way I think he’d appreciate.

We’ll all miss you and until we meet again, rest in peace x

ARTY

13.09.21

Fancied something a little more abstract today. I love rusty flaky textures and a few years back I found an old oil storage tank by Beaucette which I wanted to shoot again with a different set of eyes.

MISTY DAWN

12.09.21

Having carefully planned to head somewhere else this morning, I woke up late and left myself very little time for travel. There’s a field by my house which is always covered with a layer of mist on clear, calm nights so it’s I know whenever there’s mist in the field, it’s very likely the common land will be misty too.

So calm and peaceful when it’s like this!

FORMATION

09.09.21

I’ve had the pleasure of seeing the red arrows pretty much ever year from as far back as I can remember. The incredible sound always makes my hairs stand on end!

PHEASANT ON THE WALL

08.09.21

Took a quick walk around Le Grade Pre to see if I could spot any wildlife. As I was packing up in the car park I clocked this pheasant on the wall right behind me. I think she was looking for a mate because I could hear the male in the distance.
