SAINTS PIER

01.12.20

The first day of the meteorological winter, observed from Saints Bay. The tides were perfect and just enough hazy cloud on the horizon to keep the highlights balanced. 30 days left and that would be six years non stop daily photography (2162 days to date). I’ve filled nearly 8TB of storage and many more GB’s thrown away to make space. In my mind, I’m still only getting started!

FADING LIGHT

25.11.20

With the shortest day just over three weeks away, daylight hours are limited. Overcast days are a thing we just get used to but with dullness comes new challenges. Rain wont stop me searching and there’s always a little detail which catches my eye like this flame like leaf sat against the dark rotten leaves.

TEN

24.11.20

Our not so little girl turned 10 today! The slow but ever more apparent transition into her teens is not something I’m ready for but she’ll always be my little angel. Something she said a few days ago stuck with me. We talked about friends and at the end, she told me I was one of her best friends. That right there is where it all makes you a proud parent.

CHRISTMAS SQUARE

22.11.20

Christmas seems to have been brought upon us a little earlier than normal. Not that I’m complaining, I love Christmas. Great effort on the town lights again though.

THE PAPER BOX

21.11.20

Scanning the streets of St Peter Port for some inspiration. Always found something really authentic and interesting about this little shop. All the big chains and high street shops that have come and go over the years have nothing against the handy convenient stores.

COMMON BUZZARD

16.11.20

Never in my life have I been able to get close to a buzzard in the wild until today. Down a lane near Rocquaine, I spotted this buzzard perched in a tree. Wound down the window and slowly drove closer and closer until I was pretty much underneath it. The thing that scared it was an attack from another buzzard which came out of nowhere!

EXPERIMENT

13.11.20

Italian Arum growing in a pile of wood chips with a little backlight poking through the trees illuminating the thick white veins on the leaf. Although this is far from the ‘natural’ colours, I got pretty bored of editing it so went to town on the sliders. Still not quite happy, like a kid scribbling with a crayon, I raced though experimenting with colours and split toning and abruptly stopped when I hit some fiery oranges.
