OTHER-WORLDLY

18.10.21

An experience in itself, the etherial light was epic to see but it also presents it’s own challenges when editing. The colours were so intense, picking the right white balance and tones was a ball right ache. It’s one of those where you had to see and be in it to really believe it.

ENJOY THE VIEW

14.10.21

I try to walk as much as possible and this hobby really helps. Some days can be frustrating, others just a bit uninspiring but when you take a moment to appreciate what’s around, you realise it doesn’t really matter. I can at least walk away and know I tried my best. Broke a PB power walking back up to the car!

OCTOBER SKY

13.10.21

The slow transition of the colder seasons is well underway but somehow we’re still hanging on to some pretty warm weather. The sky at this time of year offers some amazing details with the suns rays breaking through the high level clouds.

ONE HOUR PHOTO

11.10.21

I had just under an hour to kill while Alana was at dancing so to spice things up I set myself a one hour photo challenge. With ten minutes to go I remembered about this curvy rock formation which always holds water. Lovely colour after the sun went down!

CRABBIN'

10.10.21

While the kids were entertained I wandered the vast rocky shores of Roquaine for a spot of crabbin. Found a few different species and some weird looking eels but this one was the biggest one I found.

CARD FAIL

05.10.21

It finally happened. Luckily I record backup jpg’s to the CF card but its still frustrating when you become so used to RAW files. The camera did warn me but I assumed it was a passing error. Backup your files people.

PUMPKIN PATCH

03.10.21

Another year, another pumpkin portrait with the kids. I’m not sure how much longer they’ll play ball with this tradition but I did offer a small bribe beforehand. I think Finley would actually enjoy getting stuck in on a farm though, Alana I’m not so sure about.

INK SPLAT

02.10.21

Pretty shit day to be out with the camera so here’s the black fur ball Mr Inky. The only way to get some detail in his jet black fur is by the window. Even then he just doesn’t stay still unless he’s sleeping!

THE PUMPKIN FARM

01.10.21

Took myself on a quick tour of the new pumpkin farm at Les Hechet. I have to give it to them, they have done a fantastic job with all the pumpkins and the entire area. I won’t give away too much but there’s a small number of calves and pigs to see too! Spread the world and help them make it a massive success, which I’m sure it will be.

THE INDUSTRIAL NORTH

30.09.21

Last day of September started in spectacular fashion. In the 6 (nearly 7) years I’ve been doing this, 2021 has been pretty poor for these kind of skies. I still wake up an hour before sunrise every day, check outside and you can normally gauge how it’s going to pan out. The colour started to pick up about 45 minutes before sunrise so it just a matter of patiently waiting for something to happen.
