Last day of February and it was a stunning sunrise. Didn’t have long to get out of bed to a location, this is always a good spot to fall back on in emergencies.

Last day of September started in spectacular fashion. In the 6 (nearly 7) years I’ve been doing this, 2021 has been pretty poor for these kind of skies. I still wake up an hour before sunrise every day, check outside and you can normally gauge how it’s going to pan out. The colour started to pick up about 45 minutes before sunrise so it just a matter of patiently waiting for something to happen.

From bed to location in a little over 5 minutes. I tried to have a lie in but just couldn’t resist peeping my head outside to see if there was any colour in the sky. Not quite as spectacular as yesterday although the few extra degrees was very welcome.

The industrial north, one of the bigger ‘local centres’ that desperately needs redeveloping but always has the conveniences you need. Its a working harbour that has changed very little in my lifetime and no doubt won’t change much more in the near future.

No time to get out early before work at the moment so the best I can do is hover round the bedroom windows like a dog waiting for its owner to return home. An eyesore on the skyline but I try to find beauty around it.

After a long summer of getting up stupidly early, it’s nice to be able to set the alarm at a reasonable time. It’s been a while since a there was a sky like this in the morning!

This year I’ve found myself shooting more things I see on a daily basis rather than seeking out what I ‘want’ to see. The end results do not necessary work nor do they earn a place in my portfolio but if I see something when I’m out, I shoot it rather than think about it. It’s also a challenge for me to see the areas around Guernsey a little differently.
This is from near the Vale Castle down towards the Bridge Clock Tower with the stunning evening hazy light.

Over half my life I’ve lived with a view of the power station. A monster of a structure and I named them Eartha & Bertha when I was younger!
Watching the fog lift pretty quickly as the the sun was rising this morning, for once the power station actually looked appealing to photograph. They do fire it up some mornings to keep her running, just in case someone drags a cable up from the sea bed!

I try to mix things up everyday but when time is short, revisiting locations is the only option. Harbour cranes set the perfect contrast of industrial workhorses and natural wonders.

If you didn’t manage to take a peek out the window tonight, this is how it ended! Massive rainbow to the east and I’ve never seen the colours so intense in bow. So much to take in when your constantly searching for the next image.

The sun tried it’s best to make an appearance this morning. A splash of pink was the only colour in the sky all day. If someone could invent windscreen wipers for filters, you can take my money now!
