THE WAITING GAME

30.01.21

This is the fourth time this month I’ve been down here to give this shot another go. Each time was either too cloudy or no clouds at all. This morning was almost another fail with thick haze on the horizon but I waited and I paced along the path for nearly an hour and then a rouge cloud bank rolled in and gave me something I was happy with.

HAVELET

24.01.21

Braving the elements, umbrella in hand, the opportunity was there. Amazing weather to be out in though! Hail, rain, thunder, sunshine and wind. It’s a constant battle to keep dry and protect your gear but I love to challenge myself each day (some more than others).

COLOURS OF DAWN

21.01.21

For a brief moment this morning, there was a small reminder of why I still do this every day! These sights have been rare in the last few months but I try to make sure I witness as many of them as possible and always aim to improve on the last. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it’s best to move on. Bordeaux is pretty much on my doorstep which is why I’ve spent so much time here over the years. Five minutes after this, the rain rolled in and that was it for the day. Back to the usual British weather.

LES HOUARDS

20.01.21

One of the WWII remains I’ve been meaning to photograph for years but never got round to it. It’s listed on the Antiquities as an Aircraft Firing Range with three flak gun emplacements nearby. The 1945 aerial photo shows two structures either side about 100 metres long with a track leading directly to an airstrip where the airport is today.

TWILIGHT

19.01.21

Last push to grab a shot on the way home. One of those days where I struggled to even find the energy to grab the camera out the bag. Rousse fishing store with a torch inside and another smaller uplight on the metal cladding.

MARLEY

16.01.20

He’s been with us for nearly 13 years, more commonly know between us as ‘Mars Bar’, aptly named by Ben abbreviating his name from ‘Jam Jar’.

Puts up a good fight when you put your hand inside a jumper and go in for the pounce!

BRUNI

13.01.21

Slowly approaching her first birthday, she’s almost full size. I love having a gecko in the house, completely harmless and great fun when she jumps between objects. It dawned on my a few days ago why I’ve always wanted a gecko as a pet. For those who grew up in the 80’s and 90’s, you might remember the little alien Puckmaren from a film called ‘Flight of the Navigator’? I think that’s where it all began!
